The Hospital Experience

Within walking distance of Coventry Family Practice is Warren Hospital, where you’ll be exposed to all aspects of a full-service 214-bed community hospital including a critical care unit and 24-hour emergency department. Warren Hospital also has a number of advanced technologies and services many community hospitals don’t have including a critical care unit directed by a full-time intensivist, cardiac catheterization laboratory, MRI, the newest Lightspeed CT scan, stereotactic breast biopsy and a behavioral health unit.

Warren Hospital

As a first-year resident, you’ll cover general medical services and the nursery. Second-year residents cover the critical care unit and obstetric services. Third-year residents supervise and teach medical students as well as their fellow residents.

The 250-member medical staff includes generalists, specialists and ancillary providers such as podiatrists, psychologists and midwives. As a member of the hospital’s sole residency program, you’re an important part of the hospital team.

You’ll be covering areas such as surgery and obstetrics to which, in other programs with multiple residencies, you might have little exposure. This is an advantage in the subspecialty services where there are many academic physicians who are very excited about teaching.

Warren Hospital’s membership in the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network and the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Network provide links to major academic medical centers and opportunities to enroll patients in clinical trials.
